Jamie Putnam
Jamie Putnam has been passionate about animals since childhood, growing up with dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, horses, and cows. She took her first puppy to obedience class in her early teens and has since attended hundreds of classes, learning various training methods. Jamie found positive reinforcement training to be the most effective and enjoyable method. She has volunteered as an assistant to positive reinforcement dog trainers and taught classes independently. She has also attended numerous classes on animal behavior and training at Marin Humane Society, Sacramento SPCA, and UC Davis. To further her knowledge of clicker training, Jamie completed the Karen Pryor Dog Training Professional course and earned the certification of Karen Pryor Academy - Certified Training Partner (KPA-CTP). She continues to expand her knowledge by attending the annual Clicker Expo and other events.
Training Philosophy
Jamie Putnam believes in a supportive and positive learning environment for both dogs and their owners. She emphasizes the importance of building a trusting relationship between the dog and owner, making the learning process enjoyable for both. Her training methods are based on positive reinforcement, using markers such as verbal signals or a clicker to indicate desired behavior and rewarding the dog with food or other positive reinforcement. She also believes in making environmental adjustments when necessary to facilitate the dog's progress.
