Services

Companion Pet Behavior Solutions is the only full-time facility of its kind in the state of Kentucky specializing in canine and feline behavior disorders and behavior modification.

Services:

  • Behavior Modification Sessions: These sessions take place at Companion Pet Behavior Solutions and are typically the second step in implementing behavioral plans. They focus on helping pets overcome fears and anxieties by changing their emotional state and giving them new coping mechanisms. Sessions are pay-as-you-go and are learn at your pet’s own pace.
  • Behavior Modification Consultation: This consultation is for pets that have been working with a veterinarian or boarded veterinary behaviorist and have been diagnosed with a behavioral disorder. These pets are typically being treated through pharmaceutical intervention and are now ready to begin training per the veterinarian's release.
  • Behavior Consultations: During this appointment, a detailed behavioral history and analysis of your pet will be collected. CPBS will then work together with your veterinarian (if needed) to collaborate and create a personalized problem prevention/treatment plan to address the behaviors.
  • Puppy Counseling: This service is perfect for new puppy parents. Brittany will address any behavior concerns you may have, such as potty training, play biting, crate training, husbandry care, and introductions to children and other pets. During this appointment, you will also discuss training with demonstrations, proper communication, socialization, toys, products, and more to help you get off to the right start with your new puppy.
  • Kitten Counseling: This service is designed to help you create a happy, enriching, and fun environment for your new feline companion. You will discuss how to prep and prepare your home to make it kitten-friendly, as well as talk about cat social behavior, body language, introductions to other pets, and more.
  • Prepping Your Pet When Expecting: This service is to help you begin the process of prepping your pet for the arrival of the new addition in your family. This service will not only help reduce stress in your pet with all the changes, it will also provide you with tips and resources on having that perfect pet, baby balance.
  • Reducing Veterinary/Husbandry Stress Consultation: This service is centered around pets that experience F.A.S. (fear, anxiety, and stress) when going to the veterinary office or with husbandry procedures (bathing, brushing, taking medications). Customer Reviews

S. stinson: Brittany was extremely helpful with my 4 month old kitten, Mia. She was so knowledgeable and able to find solutions for every single problem I mentioned. She was very patient and kind throughout the kitten counseling session and allowed me to voice all my concerns. I did not think there were many easy fixes for training kittens/cats, but Brittany had several wonderful ideas that I would never have known about if I didn’t meet with her. I already know I will see a huge improvement in Mia after practicing the techniques Brittany taught me! Thanks again, Brittany!! Mia says thank you too!!

K. Wheatley: We had a wonderful experience today. All of my questions were answered and the recommendations/plan will greatly improve the quality of life for my dog. My dog felt very comfortable, so much so he fell asleep on the couch. I highly recommend Companion Pet Behavior Solutions.

K. cameron: My dog has generalized anxiety, as well as specific triggers. Medication and specialized training are needed to address her anxiety, and it's been great to have Brittany help me understand my dog's behavior. Not only is Brittany knowledgeable, but she takes a holistic approach (she considers everything from my dog's environment, to her diet, to her past, to potential medical causes, and so on), and she has connections to other professionals in the community that can help my dog. It means a lot that Brittany can offer potential solutions AND help me access them easily.

K. Morman: I highly recommend Companion Pet Behavior Solutions. She answered all my questions and did not rush the visit at all. She made myself and my dog feel very comfortable. Thank you!

S. whittenburg: Brittany helped save my two hounds, Barack and Reyna. When I first rescued them, they were both terrified of many things (separation, thresholds, car rides). Brittany gave us great behavior tips, connected us with a great trainer, and recommended low-cost OTC calming products that truly changed the lives of my dogs. She works very hard and our family is very grateful.

M. Synder: Brittany has been so, so helpful with our rescue dog, James. We are seeing progress and really find her knowledgeable and professional. We would highly recommend Companion Pet Behavior Solutions!.

S. beaty: Brittany has been extremely helpful with teaching me how to best help my 8 year old dog with her reactivity issues. Her plans are thorough and she connected me me with a competent certified dog trainer. I am very pleased with the results and highly recommend her services. It is very apparent that she loves what she does!

K. Roberts: Definitely A+ and 5 out of 5 stars. We have 2 Aussies we're working with with Brittany and even after one session, we saw improvement in our dog's reactive behavior using methods we were taught by Brittany. Would recommend her to any pet owner for any behaviors!!!

M. lawler: I brought my very hyper dog, Harley, to Brittany. She was almost immediately able to calm her down and get down on the floor with her. That was something no one could do without Harley jumping all over them. Brittany has been able to calm her enough that we can do nail trims without sedation. I highly recommend Brittany to anyone with a problem pet.

j. martin: Brittany was awesome!! She gave me the confidence to train our puppy to do the basics and when I got tired and was ready to quit she was great in reminding me we could get through it!! Now we are getting better everyday with just the few techniques and encouragement she gave!

j. stoner: Brittany was wonderful with myself and my dog Franklin. Our first consultation was today and I feel much more confident that I will be able to help Franklin with his fear, anxiety, and leash aggression than I ever dreamed before. Even just on day 1, the plan is already rolling. Beyond impressed at Brittany’s knowledge on pet behaviors. She was very kind and excellent with Franklin. We are excited to go back already

J. Campbell: We started working with Brittany last week for our dog with severe separation anxiety. Brittany was professional and very knowledgeable. I’m not used to people in the medical setting spending so much time getting to know their ‘patients’ and Brittany did just that. I’m looking forward to working with her more to help our dog!

We've got the answers for your questions

Who are the dog trainers listed on this page?

We have created a directory of licensed dog trainers specializing in positive reinforcement methods. These trainers are not affiliated with Dogo, and all information is gathered from publicly available sources. Each profile provides a brief overview of the trainer's experience and expertise.

How can I select the right trainer for my dog?

Start by evaluating your dog's needs and identifying your training objectives. Each trainer's profile provides insights into their areas of expertise. Match these with your dog's character and your goals to find the ideal fit.

How do I ensure these trainers are competent?

All trainers listed here are certified professionals with extensive knowledge of positive reinforcement techniques.

Why is positive reinforcement emphasized, and what is it?

Positive reinforcement centers on rewarding preferred behaviors, ensuring a pleasant learning journey for your dog. This humane approach is scientifically proven to be the most effective long-term training method, strengthening the bond between you and your pet. By consistently rewarding good behavior, your dog learns to associate actions with positive outcomes, leading to lasting improvements and a happier companion.

Are these trainers equipped to address specific behavioral problems?

Yes, they are. Trainers are adept in basic obedience or intricate behavioral challenges. Browse their profiles to identify a trainer who specializes in the particular issues you wish to address.

How do I initiate a training program with a trainer?

Simply click on the preferred trainer's profile to access their contact details. From there, you can get in touch to discuss your requirements and set up training appointments.

How do group sessions differ from private ones?

Group sessions offer a communal setting where your dog learns general obedience alongside other dogs. In contrast, private sessions grant focused attention, making them perfect for targeted behavior modifications or individualized training agendas.

Which training techniques do these trainers abstain from?

All trainers are committed to positive reinforcement techniques and steer clear of any harsh or punitive methods. Their primary goal is to make training a joyous journey for you and your dog.

When can I expect to see results using positive reinforcement training?

Results depend on factors like your dog's nature, the specific behaviors in question, and your training consistency. While many clients observe improvements in just a few sessions, it's crucial to be patient and persistent.

Can I attend a training session to observe before committing?

Reach out to the trainer you're interested in to discuss possibly attending a session. It's a great way to get a feel for their approach and see if it aligns with your expectations.
